Head on Collision!

A few days ago I mentioned Galaxy Zoo and how much time I was spending classifying galaxies at that website (Click here for the first post). Well, I’m at it again, and I have a real treat from tonight’s galaxies;

This image shows the aftermath of two colliding galaxies. It looks to me as though the smaller galactic blob crashed through the center of the larger one, causing a massive shock wave and leaving behind a trail of gas and dust as it left the scene of the accident.
